Description

Arp 73 is in the class Spirals with small HSB Companions on Arms. In the Atlas notes, Dr. Arp commented that "arm leads toward, but not up to companion". Not sure I quite understand what he meant by that, in my image the arm certainly seems to lead directly to the companion, unless he is referring to the other, inner arm. Distance to Arp 73 is around 415 MLy.

Unrelated to Arp 73 is IC 1221 at the top of my image. This spiral is much closer at a distance of 250MLy.

The 3 quasars indicated on my image are all visual mag 19.2/3. There are several others nearby but out of field on my image.

25 x 180 sec exposures on this one.
